Test browser audio capture without video

Compare embedded platforms, native browser playback and generated stereo tones while recording system audio and source context.

Embedded from SoundCloud · External media and privacy terms apply.

Exercise 01 · Playlist and waveform

NASA Space Shuttle Mission Sounds

A playlist of launch, landing and spacecraft sounds presented in SoundCloud's interactive waveform player.

Capture objective

Capture a selected clip while preserving the visible track identity, player state and audible event.

  • Select a track before recording
  • Capture an identifiable sound event
  • Record the track name and elapsed time
Open original on SoundCloud ↗

Embedded from Spotify · Playback availability may vary by region or account.

Exercise 02 · Long-form speech

Why AI is our ultimate test and greatest invitation

A podcast episode with continuous speech, a long timeline and platform-specific controls.

Capture objective

Record a precisely defined spoken excerpt and verify that voice remains clear and uninterrupted.

  • Choose a start and end timestamp
  • Confirm speech intelligibility
  • Document interruptions or preview limits
Open original on Spotify ↗

Left and right channel test

The tone plays first on the left channel and then on the right.

Exercise 03 · Native HTML audio

Stereo channel identification

A short public-domain Ogg file played with the browser's native audio controls.

Capture objective

Verify that a recording preserves separate left and right channels without folding them incorrectly into mono.

  • Use headphones or stereo speakers
  • Confirm left plays before right
  • Inspect the captured recording in both channels

Browser-generated tone sequence

Plays 440 Hz on the left, 660 Hz in the center and 880 Hz on the right. Nothing is downloaded or streamed.

Ready. The sequence lasts about three seconds.

Exercise 04 · Web Audio API

Locally generated browser audio

A deterministic sequence produced inside the page, independent of a media file or external platform.

Capture objective

Confirm that the capture environment records audio generated directly by the browser and preserves stereo position.

  • Start recording before pressing play
  • Identify all three frequencies
  • Verify left, center and right positions

Review the result

Audio evidence needs visible context

A recording should connect what was heard to its source, player state and captured interval.

  1. 01Is audio present from the intended beginning to the end?
  2. 02Can a reviewer identify the platform, source and title?
  3. 03Are speech, effects and quiet sections intelligible?
  4. 04Were volume, elapsed time and playback state documented?
  5. 05Were the left and right channels preserved correctly?
  6. 06Did buffering, account limits or notifications affect playback?
